I'm not sure how far along I am yet (my first appointment is the 24th of March)...
I have been needing major dental work because I have periodontal disease, impacted wisdom teeth, and my teeth need to be realigned.
The dentist already did a local anesthetic to do the deep scaling cleaning, and they're scheduling another real soon. I know that is safe to do (after mild research). However...
My wisdom teeth are 100% having to come out. No ifs ands or buts. It's not something I can hold off for too much longer.
I was wondering about the safety of being put under for the Wisdom Teeth extraction process. My teeth are very sensitive and sore due to P.D. that I can't even take a normal cleaning without numbing...
I'm going to ask my OB/GYN when I go to my first appointment about it, but would love to hear your opinions.
Help?
Dental and Pregnancy?
I had to have some dental work done and I told my dentist that I was pregnant, he said that he need a release from my OB to treat me and they used 2 lead vests on my belly for xrays and they got an approved medication list from my OB for treatment. As long as you keep them in communication with each other and don't let your dentist do anything that your OB doesn't ok first, you should be fine.
Reply:always ask ur ob/gyn
but i had to get alot dental work done also if i remember correct it is allowed up to 6weeks and no more i was barely even pregnant when i had mine but am not entirely sure
Reply:im not quite understanding the qestion. you are able to have freezing (local anesthetic) While you are pregnant. I did to have flaps of skin removed that was covering my wisdom teeth. and i was 18 weeks then. the dentist wouldn't do anything until i was past the 18 week
Reply:well they say you should go to dentist in early pregnancy so i dont think its a real big issue, its just the drugs or pain killers that should be avoided, but there still should be something for you to take, give it a little chat about it to your doc or dentist......
Reply:I've been avoiding dental work myself but it's because I can't afford it.
I'm also pregnant and the best time to get dental work is during the second trimester. If it's as bad as you say I think the risk of infection is worse than the risk that the process will have on your baby.
Reply:I have been having problems with my wisdoms teeth before I got pregnant. I was going to travel to my country and pull it out. But I couldn't and I got pregnant I've been waiting to pull it out like 1 year ago. I have some problems with it now. I'm 5 months pregnant and they told me I need a surgery to pull it out. But is better if I wait until the baby born.
Is not good have a local anesthetic while you are pregnant ( i think so ) I'm not sure.
Good luck
Reply:i am sure you will be ok, with a local anisthetic
