Please help with this tooth problem in the uk -don't know who to trust?!?

part of my tooth came out last week - don't know why just woke up one morning and big hole in it . my recent dentist who was nhs has retired so went to a local dentisit who was private - he was very thorough - took a picture of my tooth etc and explained that i can either have the tooth out or - it is salvageable and would need some root work etc etc . as i left i got the quotes - £150 to have tooth out or £650 to salvage it !!! this seemed madness to me and wasnt sure if this is right as always been with an nhs dentist. so i then contacted and nhs dentist and went and saw them today. he looked at my tooth for about 5 seconds - said i'd need a filling and stuck some temporary filling in it which has already come out !! what should i do ?! i can't afford the £650 but don't really trust the nhs dentist as he didn't go into much detail. plus the fact that the temporary filling has already come out - isn't filling me with much hope. the tooth is hurting and digging in so i must get sorted

I'm with a private dentist, but if you consider the prices.

From experience, private dentists play on your fears and will do anything to make as much money as they can.

They also slate the NHS a lot of the time, which is against their contract.

I reccomend getting a second opinion.
Reply:ask your friend for some help
Reply:well,

ive had 3 fillings and i had to have 2 injections becasue 2 of them were basically next to each other, and they have stayed in and they were on the NHS, and my mum has had fillings for years and years and years and they havent come out and they were on the NHS, so i would go for the NHS fillings becasue i wouldnt really want to pay £650 for a salvage, what ever that is,
