DENTAL EXPERTISE Needed ASAP Please!?

I have severe pitting, gum recession and enamel damage on my teeth due to heavy %26amp; hard brushing techniquine from when I was alot younger. My dentist has now informed me the time has come to pull all my teeth %26amp; get dentures. I'd love implants but way too expensive! He won't speak of Veneers. Anything "special" I should request? I am gonna get a cheap set made at a local clinic then a better set from my dentist. Can they make my final set as "white %26amp; pretty" as I want them? I am SEVERELY terrified of dentists %26amp; I dread this more than anything in the world. Any suggestions? Please help, I am desperate %26amp; welcome any advice.

DENTAL EXPERTISE Needed ASAP Please!?
If your dentist has suggested that all your teeth need to be pulled and give you dentures, then I would not hesitate to say that your dentist is honest. It seems that you expected your dentist to suggest veneers for your enamel erosion problem when he might not be feeling it appropriate. He could have done that very well if he had been the sucking kind, because your problem teeth would have fallen anyway. He saved you from unnecessary expense.

After he has pulled your teeth that he would give you immediate dentures. Since you have implant supported dentures in mind, you may have to allow at least three months for the gums to heal before implants can be considered. It would be only at that time the affordable quality dentures can be opted. Pearly smile is not far!
Reply:You may discuss your concerns about pain for which he/she will give you numbing gas that should suffice. Just follow the instructions / meds by your dentist. You don't have to worry much about the temporary dentures. Report It

Reply:What would you do if someone said they wanted to amputate part of your foot?

GET ANOTHER OPINION!

How old are you?

gotta try to keep those teeth.
Reply:Definitely get a second opinion!!

There's a world of difference between dentists - even in the same practice. Go somewhere else and see if they can do veneers.

FYI - When they do full replacement implants, they don't do an implant for every tooth extracted. Just a few to anchor the permanent dentures. So it may not be as expensive as you think - and most places will offer a payment plan anyway.

And take some vitamin C for those gums!
Reply:Wow! With all the advanced techniques in dental care these days, are you sure you need to have all teeth extracted and get dentures? I would never do something so drastic without getting a second opinion from a dentist that specializes in tooth reconstruction or dental cosmetics.

As I am also severely terrified of dentists, I can relate to your fears. You really should call another dentist and ask for a consult to see if they can offer other options. I've seen some remarkable results in the patient photo albums in dental offices. Most offices will also offer a payment plan.

You're your own best advocate. Please get a second opinion before you take the next step. And ask all your questions regarding the dentures, if you indeed do need them, before you agree to the surgery. I wish you much luck!
Reply:Definately get a second opinion.Trust me, not all dentists are the same.
Reply:Second opinion is needed. If dentures are required make sure you have a copy of your teeth made so dentures will match your teeth smile.

Dentures can be made of different materials so spending a little more on a better material will make you happier in the end and will give you a lasting smile.
