Can dentists give you anything when your pregnant?

Ok, I'll try and keep this short. I have porcelain veneers on my front teeth and last night one broke and came off. Not happy about tthat but thats a different story. I have to find a dentist today, to remove the bit thats still stuck theyd have to drill and pull etc so in the past its been done under local anesthetic. I'M just going to ask him to cement the broken bit back on and I'll get something more permanent done once I've had the baby.

I know I cant have local anesthetic, but is he likely to offer me anything else that supposedly isnt harmful to pregnant women if he really wants to rip the entire thing off (which he will coz I'll have to pay him a fortune for doing it!)?

I just wanna know if I'm gonna have an argument on my hands not to have any pain/numbing meds!

I'm only 10 weeks pregnant and have a long history of miscarriages so I dont want to risk anything!

Thanks

A dentist normally asks you if you are pregnant before doing anything. He will ask you once you go again. But no women don't normally gets work done on their teeth when they are pregnant.
Reply:I went to the dentist while pregnant to have a tooth pulled and the dentist numbed me and wrote me out a script for lorcet plus which my ob/gyn and dentist both said it was fine to take but if you feel like you shouldn't take anything then you can take tylenol. As long as you take the meds as given there should be no problem. My baby was born healthy and still is. Taking a few painkillers after going to the dentist isn't going to do any harm.

Good luck and Congrats
Reply:You just have to tell him you are pregnant.since you early in your pregnancy everything should be OK. I had to go to the dentist for my wisdom tooth and it had to get pulled but they just couldn't give me a strong dose of medication. it happen early in by pregnancy. you might want to check with your OBGYN first. but i was fine.

Reply:hi

u could probably ask him to just stick it back like u have said

but in case he says that cant be done(cse one part of it is still stuck to the tooth) , then in that case u could either have some thing like direct venner(composite) put on till u complete ur pregnancy.

and u dont need to be anesthetized for that.nor do u need xrays (wch r contraindicated in pregnancy) and nor do u require antibiotics which is again contraindiacted for u.

about ur history of miscarraiges

u shd inform the dentist the first thing before u get on the dental chair

and be relaxed when u take ur treatment

would like to add one thing

dental treatment is not contraindicated during pregnancy

otherwise everybody would run to pluck out a tooth if thy wanted pregnancy terminated.(on the lighter side ;)
