Wisdom tooth removal.?

I had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth out years ago and now I am going to have one up top removed under a general anaesthetic. My dentist tried to remove this tooth already under a local anaesthetic for about an hour with no luck. Can anyone tell me what kind of pain I will be in after and is there much bleeding?I have to have the tooth out by the way-it keeps getting infected and causing pain.

Wisdom tooth removal.?
i just got two wisdom teeth taken out yesterday! really not alot of pain..i had Novocaine it took about a hour for both of them. their is bleeding but if you cant get it to stop my dentist told me to put a gauze block back their(make sure its wet!) i had to have mine removed also it sucked and i was scared sh!tless but i got threw it :) but keep in mind everyone is different and so is the pain...good luck hun
Reply:hehe i know what you mean im a total baby myself my 17 month old takes pain way better than i do :) hope all goes well Report It

Reply:It will be like your bottom ones but you might get black-eyes from the bruising.
Reply:Yeah, you'll be in pain, all right...but the pain you'll have is going to be caused by all the swelling around where your tooth used to be, and the inflamed gum tissue will press against your pain nerves. Go out and buy a bottle of Ibuprofen to alleviate the swelling afterwards.
Reply:Because the tooth is already infected and you are already in pain from it, you might be in pain after the removal. This pain is usually soreness and stiffness associated with having people doing surgery in your mouth. However, the pain should not be severe and since you already had two wisdoms out you should know the aftercare and pain levels to expect.

Good Luck.
Reply:You will have some pain afterwards, but not too much. There shouldn't be much bleeding as the dentist will plug it for you. If you have to have stitches they will be dissolvable, you will also be given painkillers so don't worry/

I had one out under local anaesthetic two years back and it took an hour and a half due to the odd position and depth. They had to saw it into 5 pieces whilst I was still awake, the good thing is you will be out of it for your op so don't panic!!
Reply:i had all four of mine out at the same time under a general and after i had black eyes and found it difficult to eat for a couple of days but apart from that it was fine.. good luck
Reply:My pain came when I got home. I didn't have much bleeding but I had cotton pads in my mouth for couple of hours in case I did. The pain was never "awful" but I was uncomfortable for a few days.

I was out like a light for extraction itself. It shouldn't be much different than your first two.
Reply:You will probably hurt for a few days, but he should give you meds. The bleeding isn't to bad. It depends if you get stitches. My face swell up some as well..... but in the ln the long run is better for you. It soft foods for the first day it will be easier in you and rinse your mouth regularly.
Reply:if dentist uses novacain there be no pain at time of removal

might hurt some when numbness wears off there will be a bit of bleeding but cotton wall (supplied by dentist) should be enough to stem

after best to rinse mouth with lukewarm water with some salt

to reduce any infection
Reply:i got my first wisdom out last year under L.A...never felt any pain til the L.A wore off. I had bad pain in my jaw and up the side of my face for about 5 days after, despite taking regular pain relief. couldn't eat on that side for 1week and had vile taste. not much bleeding though, just on extraction. good luck...don't envy u!!!! make sure u use regular mouthwashes as part of ur hygiene routine whilst healing, eat a soft diet, don't poke ur tongue in the cavity. if it bleeds consistently post op,compress with cotton wool etc for 30mins,if still bleeding,go to a+e!!! P.S i'm a maxillofacial nurse so i now what i'm talking about.
