How bad will it be for my five year old to have a milk tooth out at the dentist tomorrow?

My five year old is going to have a front, milk tooth taken out at the dentist tomorrow, with local anaesthetic. It is a double rooted tooth, so more difficult to remove than normal, I think. Will he have to wait between the injection and the dentist taking it out? How long will it take? How long after is it likely to hurt for? Is it ok to have a friend to play the same evening?

Yeah, I think you will have to wait. It shouldn't take that long. It might hurt for a day or so. And I think you should have a friend come over. The little child could use some company. Good Luck!
Reply:As far as I recall from when I was really young - all these things that affect adults more severely didn't affect me at all!

I had 4 milk teeth out because they were crowding and walked home grinning at everyone toothlessly with a lollipop from the dentist %26amp; then went out to play!
Reply:Poor little mite. It probably will hurt but these are all questions you should ask your dentist. I personally wouldn't invite a friend round that evening just in case he is still in pain or just a bit unsettled with it all.
Reply:yes, for the anaesthetic to act(probably 15 minutes. He won't feel a thing. He probably will feel dopey for the day and will want to sleep early.

Never heard of a milk tooth.
Reply:it shouldn't hurt... they give you novacaNE. aND THE NOVACANE SHOT SHOULDN'T HURT EITHER BECAUSE they give you this gell to numb the spot. then they take the gell out and give you the shot. The shot doesn't hurt. Then they wait until the novacane kicks in and pull the tooth. Shouldn't hurt. Hope this helps

And sorry i accidently hit caps lock.

My grandma calls baby teeth milk teeth too!!
Reply:My oldest had her two lower front teeth removed about 2 months apart. It was really no big deal. We kept her home from school after the extractions were done. I think each one was about 45 minutes. That was mostly due to the novacain.

She was uncomfortable, but back to herself within a few hours.
Reply:wont be that bad. he will get a gel to numb the place were the shot will be administered and after they shoot him with the novocaine, theyll pull the tooth. he wont feel anything put the pressure thats applied on the tooth to make it come out. it will be quick ... like 15 minutes
Reply:You're overreacting. The dental assistant will cover the child's eyes so he doesn't see the needle. He won't feel a thing when it comes out and it will heal quickly. My son almost couldn't tell it was gone. Tylenol every 4 hours should keep him in good shape.
