What is the most effective way to market myself as a Physical Therapist to a Dentist or Oral Facial Surgeon?

I am a Physical Therapist with a specialty in treating the TMJ. I have been published in a peer reviewed journal and feel that I have a lot to offer the local practitioneer's patients. I am planning to begin a marketing campaign and have copies of my business card, TMJ pamphlets and copies of my article ready to go. What is the most effective way to meet with these practitioneers considering their busy schedules? Is it best to schedule a luncheon? Show up unannounced hoping to meet the individuals? I guess I am looking for pointers on what has worked in the past. Thanks in advance.

Well, I can tell you that showing up unannounced is NOT going to get you anywhere and will make a bad first impression. I would send a cover letter to the doc [mark the envelope personal] explaining what you have to offer and enclose the above items. Also say that you will be contacting the office in a week to make an end of the day apt. to talk. When you call explain who you are and hopefully, they will give you an apt. after all of the patients have left so that you and the doc won't be rushed. God luck!
Reply:What with your apparent background it only takes being in the right place at the right time. First off make certain you have plenty of photographs to hand out. Showing your pearly whites will give a clue as to your understanding about oral care. Also physical therapists must be in shape and that sells anything. Next find out about your employer, where he lunches, plays golf, shop, etc. After doing the research target your person and send all the single info pages to them. Follow up after several weeks to find out if they read your material. Good luck.
