Getting your foot in the door for Medical Billing?

I am taking Medical Billing classes in the Summer at my local college and will be recieving a Certificate. I would like to get a feel for Medical Billing thought before i beggin the classes in the Summer. How would i go about doing this? Don't some places just train you?

I was thinking about contacting Local Dentists and Doctors to see if i could work with the Medical Billers and mabey even do some myself for Minimum Wage.

Any advice?

Getting your foot in the door for Medical Billing?
Well Medical Billing isn't in demand the way that Medical Transcriptionist is. I've taken Medical Billing courses and graduated, and make sure you get the necessary certification.

You should try to start looking for places of employment now. Don't wait until you graduate to look. There's some places that might let you in the door now and train you (rare but possible). Most employers will want you to have at least 2-3 years experience as a biller. You're dealing with their money flow, and so they tend to be very picky even with schooling. It's a catch 22. Every place of employment is different.

It's good that you are contacting the doctors now. You will have to sign a contract stating that you will not disclose information and will be held to HIPAA laws as the other employees.

Another suggestion is for you to try temp agencies, or apply at Medical insurance companies now. The Medical Terminology will give you the upper hand too.
Reply:volunteer work would be the best way
