I just found out that I am pregnant (5 weeks) are local anesthetics safe?

I just had a cavity that was causing pain so my ob as well as my dentist mentioned it was safe to have a filling done. My dentist used mepivaciane but I am very worried since I read it is pregnancy category C.

I just found out that I am pregnant (5 weeks) are local anesthetics safe?
I think that local anesthetics are fairly safe during pregnancy. And the infection that can occur from NOT treating an inflamed or abscessed tooth can be passed on to the baby. During my pregnancy, my bad teeth got much worse, and I had to have work done several times, especially during my last trimester. Your pregnancy hormones can wreak havoc in your mouth, resulting in more (or worse cavities), abscesses, and even loose teeth.
Reply:Call your dr and talk to him. I don't think most people on here will know for sure. But also whats done is done. They give some local anesthetics durring labor too though. But ease your mind and call the dr
Reply:calling your doctor would be the smartest thing to do when asking this question. they would know alot more
