How do I give my Dentist the sack ?

Hi,

I live in a rural area, so NHS dentists are few and far between

I could go private, but have paid the system a lot over the years to look after me when needed.

My local bloke is a joke.

He has ripped out about half my teeth, and given me plates that simply do not fit.

OK, somewhat due to living abroad, smoking %26amp; drinking, it can be said that I have not properly looked after the teeth that I had.

BUT, the bottom set are verging on painful, and the top set just try %26amp; pop out if eating so much as a soft pear.

My GP observed I am underweight by about 2st

I am not suprised ! I am down to porrige, soups, eggs etc.

Oh for a steak !

Can I have him sacked through the BDA (British Dental Association) ?

He is on his last legs as a practicing "dentist", and I am not alone in town in mentioning his ham-fisted and dodgy methods.

What to do ?

How do I give my Dentist the sack ?
lower denture are very hard to have in the mouth it can take a very long time for you to handle them, some people can't at all. if the top ones came out as bad as what you say them i would use something like seabond.

i am not backing the dentist up at all but it is hard to make these things.

if the dentures where placed into the mouth the next day or a few weeks after having your teeth taken out your dentist should have told you that your month will change shape and these will need to be re-lined. if the dentist can do that it the surgery them have it done they it should cost you just under £50. or you may need a new one and that well cost you £200.

it sounds like the dentist has not told you what will happen after your teeth have been taken out and has just given you something to help you for the time and is looking at you coming back to have new ones made. if i was you i would look around for a new dentist and get some one that will do you a good job. and talk to the BDA for they help in the matter. he could be told to paid you something towards having new one done, but it all goes on his notes and what you have been told. write everything down and keep it safe.

Reply:well you can't really sack him but you can change! go through the yellow pages and ring the surgery's nearest you. especially now! because there's quite a lot who have now received funding from the government and are just starting to take back nhs hun. Get cracking and good luck.
Reply:whats the point if hes about to finish practice soon? or are you saying that everyones against him so he will be sacked? are you hoping if he is sacked you will get another NHS dentist? that is not necessarily true, the practice may just go private if he is not around. so you'd have to suck it up private either way.
Reply:I am sorry this has happened to you.

What about contacting your local press too especially if you have other discontented victims?

However there is no need for shoddy incompetent work.

I would give NHS Direct a call as ask them who you should contact.

I would think the dental practise has a manager and you should also put your complaint in there.

Also on the net there must be an address you can write to for the BDA for your complaint.

Maybe you could also contact a lawyer?
Reply:Can you gather the names and addresses of all those who've been "treated" by him? If you can, you could then draft a letter, outlining your grievances against this dentist, then ask all those who are dissatisfied with his dental work to countersign it, and send it to the BDA. Alternatively, persuade everybody to write their own letters expressing their grave doubts about this clown's competence.
Reply:Have you tried making a complaint to the dentist himself? He would probably offer to do his best to make your dentures more comfortable.

And if you go to the press and your story is inaccurate and you can reightfully be sued for slander.

Have you though that maybe your dentist has done the best he can with the state you let your mouth get to. He only extarcted the teeth because you let them get so bad in the first place. Take some responsibility. He's a professional doing his best-not a magician.

Are you brushing twice daily and flossing now to take care of the teeth you have left? Somehow I doubt it..... Stop blaming a man that's working hard to help you
