How to verify that dentist performed the procedure what he is really telling me?

I had my wisdom tooth extracted after it fractured in two parts. My dentist told me that it need to extracted surgically, although i was thinking that it would be a simple extraction.

Now what really creating a big doubt in my mind is the tools that he used to extract my tooth. He used some local anesthetia and a tool which looks like a screwdriver...thats it. It just took 5-10 mins.

I thought that surgical removal means some cut will be made into my gums and then some stitches will be done...but nothing happened.

How to verify that dentist performed the procedure what he is really telling me?
Usually a general dentist won't extract wisdom teeth or any molars because they are difficult. They usually refer to an oral surgeon which is about twice the price. If it was fractured into 2 parts, the extraction was a little more difficult. They never know what it will turn into. A "simple" extraction is usually just a baby tooth, incisor/premolar. Any molar is usually a surgical ext. Be glad it went so well.
