Ok....2nd question about Wisdom tooth! I am worried the blood clot has gone...how can i tell?

Ok the story goes like this: Yesterday i had my wisdom tooth out, bottom one, at dentist under local and had no stitches. My tooth kept on bleeding, even though there was a MASSIVE jelly like clot over the wound, so late last night i got some cotton wool and put it in and bit hard on it. Kept in for an hour, took it out and bleeding had stopped but the clot came out too! I looked and there was still some blood covering the area, but this morning i swear i can start to see the wound....this means i will get an infection right? x I have stopped bleeding though!!

You should have left the clot alone, it is there to protect and seal the wound. But you will be OK. it will probably clot over again. Keep your mouth clean, use a mouthwash if your dentist told you you could, if he didn't ring him and ask.
Reply:Rinse your mouth with salty water, that will help it seal and keep infection at bay.





If you have no plans on repainting the ceiling think twice about using a mouth wash, it will hurt!

i removed it with a surgery %26amp; 3 stiches,it took me a week %26amp; 10 shots to have a normal face without that tennis ball in my mouth!lol,,,my face swallowed strangely.the doctor told me within 3 month i will be totally normal!


About your Q. don't worry any surgery must have its con. i was bleeding too but my doc. told me that this is the normal....................hope u a speedy recovery!
Reply:stop looking and putting your fingers in your mouth because if you do not you will end up with an infection. you mouth has it own healing properties and will heal well if left alone just rinse your mouth out with salt water2 or 3 times aday as salt is a atiseptice
Reply:Minnie Moo, there is no problem with what you did, If its bleeding you are supposed to bite on some sterile gauze/cotton to put pressure on the socket which stops the bleeding.





The loss of that blob of clot is of no consequence and the appearance of your socket sounds normal. If it was becoming infected it would be extremely painful and you would know about it.





It will continue to change appearance of the next two weeks and the gums will have closed over by then.
