Let's say if one is looking for Local information such as restaurants, dentists, schools etc., or jobs, local news etc. I have heard of www.guruji.com, www.justdial.com and www.dwaar.com, but wonder which one is better among them. Or is Google the best?
Which is the best Indian search engine for local needs?
I think Google local is terrible, and guruji is worse. IMO, Justdial is really terrific especially when you are on the move. However, their web offering is more of a category browse than search. In the current situation, dwaar.com looks the best on data, search quality and presentation. It presents refiners that makes it easy to get to what you are looking for. However, i wish they also provide a neighborhood search e.g. hotels on BEL Road, bangalore should show up hotels nearby too.

Reply:I think you are forgetting some more name like http://find4sites.com and http://rekha.com. Both are good at their place send is the class example. First one is having the features of web directory and link directory too. So it will be more informatiive to the visiot and for the webmaster. So my vote is for http://find4sites.com
Regards.
