ive had a mouth ulcer since february this year and it hasnt gone away (caused by having a local anaesthetic at the dentist. my lip was numb and i accidently bit it).
ive tried salt, tomato sauce and all that stuff and it never goes away. i went to the dr and he gave me some coldsore cream to use. it worked for a cuple of days, but its stopped working.
the ulcer reduces, but never fully goes away, and it just flares up for no real reason.
it was a really bad and big ulcer when i first had it.
can any one help me?
Ive had a mouth ulcer..?
First you have to make sure it's not a traumatic ulcer caused by biting your tongue. Traumatic ulcers are usually yellow and surrounded by a red border.
If it's not traumtic, it could be caused by many reasons. Most common causes are:
- Iron or vitamin B deficiency
- hormonal changes
- oral diseases
- viral diseases
it's good that it's not increasing in size but u better get a second opinion..
Reply:check your sugar, you may be diabetic.
Reply:Try Vitamin C and a diet of fruits and vegetable...the ulcer may be telling you that your diet has too much heat which is caused by fats, sugars and fatty meat.
Reply:You may not believe this but I had one caused in the same way. What is happening is sometime in your sleep you will actually bite your lip in the same spot over and over again (usually because it's irritated.) thus it can't get well completely; so I went to the drug store and got one of the mouth guards like boxers or football players use and slept with it in my mouth for about a week and it healed in no time at all. This works if you grind your teeth in your sleep also.
Reply:Don't ignore it. Go to a dental surgeon and try to find out the reason for the ulcer. Sometimes it happens due to improper setting of teeth. Go for a biopsy if required.
